The newlocation is in Downtown San Luis Obispo (553 S. Higuera Street) and will offer new and gently used clothes, household items, and some furniture. The store will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds from thrift stores sales are used for AHI programs and services that help adults with developmental disabilities.

The new store in San Luis Obispo will train individuals with valuable job skills such as creating displays, sorting and organizing clothing, customer service, and how to make retail transactions. Donations of clean, gently used items such as clothing, shoes, accessories, linens and household items like furniture, working televisions, knickknacks, pictures, kitchen items, sporting goods and books are accepted during normal business hours at their base location behind cuesta college. Large appliances, console televisions, refrigerators, freezers or mattresses cannot be donated.

For more than 60 years, Achievement House has been dedicated to training and placing individuals into useful and productive jobs and helping adults who wish to live independently within the community. The nonprofit’s programs reach across San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County. The nursery, e-waste recycling, and thrift stores are open to the community. The organization also operates the 11th Hole Grill at Laguna Golf Course and Cup of Joe at the California Army National Guard’s Camp San Luis Obispo.
